To
observe Theological Education Sunday 2008
we suggest you plan to conduct an intentional
exploration of your congregation's educational
mission sometime in the next few months. Below
you will find a link to a resource called
Educational Inquiry that will enable
you to do this. If you choose to carry out
an inquiry, you might use Theological Education
Sunday to prepare your congregation for this
process. The
goal of Educational Inquiry is to bring
together people of all ages to have an equal
part in creating vision, making decisions,
and setting goals in Christian Education
or Christian Formation. Educational
Inquiry is a tool created and adapted and
tested in the context of congregational
development in the area of Christian Formation.
This resource focuses attention on the entire
life and mission of the congregation in
the context of catechesis. It is a tool
to support the people of God as they prepare,
create and develop theological education
opportunities.
Educational Inquiry was
developed by The Rev. Robyn Szoke and updated
in consultation with members of the Theological
Education for All collateral materials committee
including Dr. Amelia Gearey Dyer. It builds
upon resources from the national Episcopal
Church Center such as Called to Teach
and Learn, Discovering Called to
Teach and Learn, The Children's Charter
for the Church, along with The National
Training for the Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd 1992-1995, and Appreciative
Inquiry ( a process that captures the
life giving spirit of an organization, written
by David Cooperrider).
This comprehensive
tool is available for download in PDF form.
